About This Service
Check the Receiving Fireplace for an Insert
A fireplace insert needs a suitable receiving fireplace and a compatible connection. Its decorative front does not establish either condition. Assessment should identify existing damage, venting requirements and access constraints, with additional preparation listed separately from the appliance itself.
Include Removal and Finish Restoration
An installation-only estimate may leave an unfinished room. Check who removes the old unit, disposes of it and restores drywall, tile, stone and the mantel. Removal can expose concealed conditions, so the plan should also explain how changed work is priced and authorized.
Keep Product and Project Documents Together
Keep the approved model, installation documentation and proposal together as a project reference. Review them when changing equipment or finishes. A substitute with similar dimensions can need different connections or surrounding work; the original installation plan should not silently carry over to it.
Separate a Freestanding Product From a Built-In
A freestanding appliance and a fireplace enclosed by finished construction can require different project scopes. Product selection should establish the intended mounting and surrounding arrangement. Do not compare their visible dimensions as though they involve the same preparation, access or finishing.
Include the Supplied Safety Components
Screens, barriers and other components specified for the appliance belong in the completed installation. Their role should not be discarded to achieve a preferred appearance. Review the operating information for the selected product and keep required components identified at handover.
