About This Service
Check Factory-Built System Compatibility
Factory-built terminations belong to an identified chimney system. A generic masonry cap is not interchangeable merely because it looks similar. Available labels and manufacturer documents guide replacement; if the assembly remains unidentified, that compatibility question stays unresolved before parts are ordered.
Check the Single-Flue Fitting
A single-flue cap is selected for an individual outlet. The shape, exposed termination and intended fitting method matter more than a rough visual width. Ask whether the quoted product attaches to that outlet or requires a different supporting arrangement before an order is finalized.
Recognize a System-Specific Termination
A factory-built chimney may use a termination designed for its complete assembly. An ordinary masonry cap is not a default substitute. The installed system’s identification and instructions must establish the replacement, including which surrounding components can remain.
Define the Boundary With a Roofer
If another contractor removed or plans to refit a cap, clarify the agreed responsibilities. Outlet work, surrounding roof materials and cap attachment should not fall between scopes. Keep the sequence and any required supporting repair visible before either contractor considers the area finished.
Review a Customer-Supplied Component
Share the exact product information for a cap you already own. It may help the assessment, but the installation should not proceed on the assumption that purchase established suitability. If it does not fit the application, discuss the alternative before work is booked.
