About This Service
Do not diagnose by odor alone
An odor can be associated with deposits, moisture or another condition, and the description alone cannot identify the source. Tell us when you notice it and whether use or weather changes the symptom. We assess the concern before recommending the corresponding work.
Distinguish an observation from a conclusion
A visible crack, loose part or stain is an observation that needs context. The repair recommendation should explain why the condition matters and what the task addresses. We avoid presenting a brief symptom description as a complete diagnosis of hidden components.
Assess the Chimney Cap Attachment
A loose cap raises a question about the component and the area that supports it. A replacement recommendation should consider both. Leave the cap in place if still attached and keep away from loose material; the inspection plan should address access without requiring the homeowner to retrieve a part from the roof.
Review Lining Findings Specifically
A concern about a lining belongs to the area and condition described in the report. Exterior appearance cannot establish its condition. The proposed assessment should state what access or further examination is needed to answer the question rather than treating general visible observations as a substitute.
