About This Service
Choose a Damper for the Right System
Top sealing damper installation places an operating closure at the chimney top on a suitable system. It is not a universal accessory for every fireplace, fuel or vent type. Twin first identifies the connected appliance and existing damper arrangement.
A top mount chimney damper may be considered where the existing fireplace damper is damaged or where an appropriate replacement is being planned. Access, outlet condition and the operating mechanism affect the installation.
Operation Matters as Much as Fit
The homeowner needs clear opening and closing instructions for the installed product. A damper must not obstruct the required exhaust path during use. Twin reviews the controls and the restrictions that apply to the actual fireplace.
Do not force a stuck damper or light a test fire beneath a suspect closure. Tell us whether the existing control moves and whether the fireplace burns wood or another fuel before the appointment.
Consider Future Access to the Control
The operating mechanism should be discussed alongside the fitting at the chimney top. Room changes, an appliance conversion or a later fireplace project may affect whether the arrangement remains suitable. Tell Twin about those plans before a component is ordered.
If the existing damper is damaged, bring that concern into the same assessment. A new top closure should have a defined purpose and should not be sold as an answer to every draft or odor complaint. Any separate performance concern needs its own explanation.
