About This Service
Define Replacement, Insert or New Installation
A factory-built replacement, an insert and a new masonry fireplace are different construction projects. Name the intended system in the estimate, even when finished examples look alike. Reuse of existing parts must be assessed for that project rather than assumed from the appearance of the old facing.
Resolve the Venting Route Early
For a vented fireplace, establish the route and compatible components while selecting the appliance. A nearby chimney is not evidence of a suitable connection. Twin identifies what remains to be confirmed; the selected product instructions and applicable project requirements determine the installation arrangement.
Coordinate the Hearth and Flooring Transition
A new fireplace or insert can change the required hearth arrangement and adjacent finish work. Identify what flooring is retained and what the product or construction needs before approving the visual detail. A tile choice does not establish the complete supporting or protective assembly.
Recheck Requirements When the Model Changes
A substituted fireplace can change the supporting work, connections or finish opening. If availability leads to another model, review the installation scope again before ordering. Similar appearance or nominal size does not establish identical requirements.
Leave the Required Service Access
The final finish must respect the appliance’s access requirements. Discuss which controls or service areas remain reachable and how the surrounding construction accommodates them. A seamless decorative surface is not an advantage if it conflicts with the selected product’s instructions.
