About This Service
Identify the installed system
A masonry fireplace, a factory-built unit and a connected stove can require different checks. Accessible model information and manuals help identify the arrangement. We avoid carrying assumptions from one appliance into another simply because both have a chimney or similar decorative finish.
Explain the inspection boundary
The visit should make clear which components and areas are being assessed. A visible condition check, an internal examination and investigation that needs additional access are different scopes. We describe the agreed task and explain a limitation rather than imply complete access where none exists.
Report Changes at a Gas Appliance
A change in soot, ignition or shutdown behavior should be reported as an equipment concern. Leave the appliance off pending assessment. A chimney visit and a gas-appliance repair are not automatically the same scope, so identify the installed system and the behavior that prompted the request.
Keep Chimney and Appliance Conclusions Distinct
A finding about accessible chimney material does not automatically confirm the condition of every appliance component. When a request involves both, the assessment should say which areas and equipment were included. That makes it clear whether another service is needed before the system returns to normal use.
