About This Service
Keep Product and Project Documents Together
Keep the approved model, installation documentation and proposal together as a project reference. Review them when changing equipment or finishes. A substitute with similar dimensions can need different connections or surrounding work; the original installation plan should not silently carry over to it.
Discuss the Supporting Construction
The appliance or constructed fireplace must have appropriate support for its installation. This is a project assessment question, not a homeowner calculation from a product photograph. The proposal should identify whether supporting work is included or needs a separate structural or building scope.
Establish the Electrical Arrangement
Electric models can differ between plug-in and hardwired installations, and other fireplace products may also have electrical requirements. Use the selected instructions to define the arrangement. Any new electrical work and the party responsible for it should be stated before the surrounding wall is finished.
Choose the Complete Wood-Burning System
A listed factory-built wood-burning fireplace must be considered with its compatible chimney assembly. A site-built masonry fireplace is a different construction approach. Identify which system is proposed so individual components are not mixed solely because both projects burn wood.
Confirm the Product Before Enclosure
The delivered model and required components should correspond to the agreed project. If they differ, resolve the scope before the unit is enclosed by finishes. A last-minute substitution can create work that the original opening or connection plan did not cover.
