About This Service
Check Factory-Built System Compatibility
Factory-built terminations belong to an identified chimney system. A generic masonry cap is not interchangeable merely because it looks similar. Available labels and manufacturer documents guide replacement; if the assembly remains unidentified, that compatibility question stays unresolved before parts are ordered.
Identify Unusual Outlet Shapes
A nonstandard-looking termination should not be forced into the closest familiar product size. Its shape and system identity need assessment. Keep an available model or old part description for the visit; final fit should be established at the outlet rather than inferred from the ground.
Set Expectations for the Finished Appearance
A new cap may differ in color or profile from an older weathered fitting. Discuss the desired appearance before selection, while keeping product suitability first. Exact visual matching should not be promised where the old fitting is unidentified or no longer available.
Describe Rain Symptoms Independently
Water visible inside the fireplace and a damaged lid may occur together without proving one complete cause. Keep both observations in the service request. A cap proposal should state what its replacement addresses and whether a separate water-entry investigation is still needed.
Review a Customer-Supplied Component
Share the exact product information for a cap you already own. It may help the assessment, but the installation should not proceed on the assumption that purchase established suitability. If it does not fit the application, discuss the alternative before work is booked.
