About This Service
Clarify Removal and Disposal
Removal and disposal should be explicit items in the job. A detached fitting lying on the roof may require different access from an intact cap. Describe its location safely, keep away from falling pieces and leave retrieval to the planned work.
Check the Single-Flue Fitting
A single-flue cap is selected for an individual outlet. The shape, exposed termination and intended fitting method matter more than a rough visual width. Ask whether the quoted product attaches to that outlet or requires a different supporting arrangement before an order is finalized.
Do Not Assume an Unused Opening Is Abandoned
A flue that has not been used recently may still be part of an installed system. Ask for its role to be established before a cover arrangement changes it. Capping for weather protection and permanently closing a passage are different projects.
Compare Material and Product Suitability
Stainless steel, copper and other cap materials may be offered in different product lines. Material preference does not settle fit or system compatibility. Compare the complete specified product and installation rather than treating the metal name as a universal quality or lifespan guarantee.
Keep the Specified Part With the Service Record
Retain the product identification and which chimney received it. On a later visit, these details are more useful than remembering the cover’s color. The record should also preserve any supporting repair or unresolved condition discussed when the replacement was agreed.
