About This Service
Define Replacement, Insert or New Installation
A factory-built replacement, an insert and a new masonry fireplace are different construction projects. Name the intended system in the estimate, even when finished examples look alike. Reuse of existing parts must be assessed for that project rather than assumed from the appearance of the old facing.
Look Beyond Opening Dimensions
An opening has depth and surrounding construction as well as visible width and height. Those conditions can separate a simple fitting from a larger replacement. Discuss the complete receiving space before removal so a product that looks right does not conceal substantial changes behind its face.
Plan the Mantel and Surround Together
Bring mantel, cabinet and facing plans into the product review. Their dimensions and materials must work with the selected fireplace instructions; an inspiration image supplies appearance, not an installation specification. Identify which finishing tasks Twin includes and which require a separate contractor.
Discuss the Supporting Construction
The appliance or constructed fireplace must have appropriate support for its installation. This is a project assessment question, not a homeowner calculation from a product photograph. The proposal should identify whether supporting work is included or needs a separate structural or building scope.
Choose the Complete Wood-Burning System
A listed factory-built wood-burning fireplace must be considered with its compatible chimney assembly. A site-built masonry fireplace is a different construction approach. Identify which system is proposed so individual components are not mixed solely because both projects burn wood.
